Haras de Bouquetot-based ZELZAL celebrated a new impressive debut winner courtesy of ZESTFUL. Carrying the top weight in the Prix du Jasmin, the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained ZESTFUL bore our colours to victory on his debut run at Lyon-la-Soie, France on December, 13 under the ride of Jean-Bernard Eyquem. He became ZELZAL’s 11th first crop winner, while Zelzal’s other runner today PERLE ROUGE was a brave runner-up and yesterday’s ZIMMER was placed third on his debut run.
There were more victories under our colours this week with our homebred two-year-old SUBAHIYAH scoring at Chantilly, France. The daughter of Le Havre out of Group-placed GHERDAIYA broke her maiden tag with ease over the mile in the Prix du Jardin des Cascades. Bred at Haras de Bouquetot and entrusted to Jean-Claude Rouget, she was ridden to victory by Coralie Pacaut.
Tally-Ho Stud-based MEHMAS ends 2021 in style with a new round of winners on the other side of the Channel sea. At Dundalk, Tally-Ho Stud-bred three-year-old MULGRAVE secured a second consecutive victory at handicap level on December, 15 while M. D. Byrnee-bred two-year-old TURN ON THE JETS opened his winning account on December, 17. Third winner of the week was courtesy of three-year-old PAPAS GIRL who lost her maiden tag at Southwell for breeder Tally-Ho Stud.
OLYMPIC GLORY enjoyed a duet of winners on both sides of the world, starting with OCTAVIAN on December, 13 at Rockampton, Australia and followed by Haras d’Etreham-bred FAITH OF HOPE on December, 17 at Cagnes-sur-Mer, France for a fifth success grabed.
Haras de Bouquetot-based TORONADO continued his round of scorers, with no less than 3 international winners to his name on December, 14. In Australia, TRUE VALENTINE opened her winning account over the 1,000 meters of ORANGE while in France, four-year-olds LEVANT and SPINNING MIST crossed the finish line first respectively at Pau and Pornichet. The first named collected five career-wins and was bred at Haras de Bouquetot, while SPINNING MIST is a sixth time winner for breeder Newsells Park Stud.
Victories continued with a double of winners on December, 17, TORONASAURUS REX baring fangs in a 1,100 meters maiden race at Moe, Australia while M. and Mrs N. Welby-bred PRISONER’S DILEMMA was a third time winner at Dundalk, UK.
Tally-Ho Stud-based GALILEO GOLD enjoyed a new victory with his juvenile RED BOURBON at Pisa, Roma on December 19 and Haras de Bouquetot-based RULER OF THE WORLD completed his tally with LORD OF THE TURF who posted a success at Chennai, India on December, 16.
