Succession of Stakes performances for MEHMAS' juveniles and collection of two-year-old winners on debuts from his headquarters at Tally-Ho Stud.
After leading all the race, Ickworth Stud-bred two-year-old CALIFORNIA DREAMER was only defeated in the final meters to finish good third in the G3 Fillies Sprint Stakes on May, 19 at Naas, Ireland on her second start only. Winner on debuts, Denis McDonnell-bred two-year-old MISS LAMAI finished runner-up in the Listed Marygate Fillies’ Stakes on May, 17 at York, UK with only half of a length to spare on her second start, adding also blacktype to her record. On the very same day, two-year-old SCORTHY CHAMP broke his maiden tag by two-lengths on his debuts at Leopardstown, Ireland for breeder Healthy Wood Co.
The trio of two-year-old winners on debuts was enriched by a double on May, 14 with Highfort Stud and D. McAbhaird-bred VINGEGAARD loosing his maiden on his first start at Chepstow, GB. MOVING FORCE followed the same victorious pace for Rabbah Bloodstock Limited by winning his debut race at Beverley, GB, defeating RAJETERIAT, another son of MEHMAS, who finished third.
MEHMAS also congratulated TAJ DRAGON for his ninth career-win on May 19 at Sha Tin Racecourse, with the Tally-Ho Stud representative triumphing in the Class 1 Heritage Handicap to bring his earnings to over £1 million. On the very same day in the UK, MAKALU recorded a fifth career-win and second success of the season in a handicap race at Ripon for Kevin Fox.
HALE END and CLARENDON HOUSE were also both successful in handicap races on the other side of the Channel, with the former earning his third win for Paul McEnery on May, 18 at Thirsk, while CLARENDON HOUSE posted a eight career success for breeder D.R. Tucker on May, 16 at York.
