Juvenile double Stakes performances in a day for Mehmas

MEHMAS celebrated a remarkable collection of winners this week, including two Stakes performances in a day with his juveniles. Two-year-old TALES OF THE HEART was narrowly defeated on his second start to finish good second in the Listed Empress Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket, UK on June, 29.  The Tally-Ho Stud-bred filly was followed-up a moment later by CALIFORNIA DREAMER who posted a brilliant charge in the G2 Arlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh to finish second. Bred by Ickworth Stud, she is now a dual Group-placed out of four starts.

Our Tally-Ho Stud-resident was also represented by another series of dual winners in a day, starting in both sides of the Channel on June, 25: two-year-old CLOSE COMBAT displayed his fighting spirit to secure his second career-win at Salon de Provence, France with three-year-old BONA FORTUNA made a winning seasonal comeback at Brighton, UK to win his maiden on his third start. The former was bred by Haras de Beauvoir, while BONA FORTUNA was bred by Tally-Ho Stud. The following day in the UK, R. Ryan-bred ACKLAM EXPRESS was found in the winners’ enclosure for a fourth career-success at Salisbury while BARLEY was posting a two-length win at Carlisle for breeder Norman Orminston.

Two-year-old FRED ON FIRE completed the juvenile winning collection by breaking his maiden tag on debut at Newcastle, UK on June, 27 for breeders Sandra Russell and Lismacue Stud, while three-year-old NOVELLO LAD opened his winning account at Doncaster, UK on June, 28 for breeders Last Frontier Partnership.

Our Haras de Bouquetot-based OLYMPIC GLORY also celebrated victories with his three-year-olds. AMOUAGE defeated his 10 rivals at Clairefontaine, France on June, 28 for M. Almahmoud and the following day, DISTINCTIVE GLORY received all the honors on the other side of the planet when winning in Australia over 1,400 meters at Quambone racecourse.

GALILEO GOLD was represented this week by GOLDEN TEMPLE who defeated his 17 rivals in a handicap race at The Curragh, Ireland on June, 28 to secure a third consecutive win for breeders Helen Smith and Sally Mullen. The week ended on the same racecourse with the second consecutive success of J and F. Reilly-bred BOOYEA on June, 30.

Our Haras de Bouquetot’s resident AL WUKAIR was honored in Italy courtesy of SUNDAY IN PARIS who crossed the finish line first on June, 26 in a 1,200-meter race at Milano.

ZELZAL counted on IRBIS this week at Lyon-Parilly, France, the Ecurie Haras de Beaufay-bred five-year-old securing his second career success on June, 24. In France still, V. Tymoshenko-bred GURZUF followed-up his Listed-placed last time out by a victory at Auteuil on June, 25.

Congratulations to all connections!
