New impressive stream of blacktype performances for our stallions this week again, starting with 4 blacktypes in less than 48 hours to the credit of Haras de Bouquetot-based TORONADO. In Australia, four-year-old Group winner STILL A STAR received deserved attention following her success in the 1,400 meters Listed T’bred Club Anniversary Vase at Caulfield, imitated a few minutes later by three-year-old SENOR TOBA who secured the 2,000 meters G3 Frank Packer Plate at Randwick for his first attempt at this level. On the same day, two-year-old ISLE OF AVALON followed up her Listed-place on her debuts by an excellent third place in the 1,200 meters G3 Breeders’ Stakes at Morphettville Parks on her second start only. In France the following day, three-year-old MOUILLAGE bred by Mrs Françoise Perree displayed a terrific turn of foot to finish close runner-up in the 1,600 meters Listed Prix Aymeri de Mauleon at Toulouse, with only a nose to spare.
Tally-Ho Stud-based MEHMAS continued hot form in Italy with a beautiful 1-3 in the G3 Pr. Parioli Italian 2,000 Guineas at Roma on April, 25, GHS Bloodstock Ltd & Tally-Ho Stud-bred FAYATHAAN showing a brave attitude to become the 8th first-crop Stakes winner for his sire and Sandra Russell-bred MEMO DE L’ALGUER finishing strong third.
Additional three-year-old victors of the week for MEHMAS included an impressive 6 ½ lengths-success for Gerard Mullins-bred NELSON GAY at Sandown, England on April, 23 and a double on April, 21 with Tally-Ho Stud-bred DENZIL’S LAUGHING proving best in a handicap at Catterick, UK and Thomass Smullen-bred STOP ON RED securing a third win at Dundalk, UK.
There was more blacktype glory down-under for OLYMPIC GLORY with his three-year-old LORD OLYMPUS showing a dynamic turn-of-foot to claim the 1,100 meters Listed Mick Dittman Plate on April, 24 at Doomben to add a fifth victory out of nine starts to his impressive tally.
Additional successes in Australia for our Haras de Bouquetot-based stallion included a fifth win for OLYMPIC LEGEND at Canterbury on April, 21 and a success for POP’S GLORY at Merriwa on April, 24. In France at Durtal, there was no limit for JPJ Dubois-bred SKY GLORY who opened his winning account at first asking on April, 25, preceded by three-year-old OLYPA who collected her second consecutive victory on April, 23 for breeder Mrs. JL. GIRAL. It was the first of three international successes recorded on April, 23 with three-year-old CROSS STEP breaking his maiden at Tamworth, Australia and ABSOLUTE GLORY crossing the finish line first at Gatton, Australia.
Aliette and Gilles Forien-bred LONGLAI was another winner on his three-year-old seasonal return for our impressive SHALAA, the powerful bay landing his first start of the season by an easy 1 ½ lengths at Beverley, UK to call a second career victory to his name.
Last but not least, RULER OF THE WORLD proved once again popular in Italy with his four-year-old WONDERFUL WORLD promoted to first over the 2,000 meters of Roma racecourse on April, 25.
Congratulations to all connections!
