This morning, Martin Stevens' popular daily newsletter 'Good Morning Bloodstock' was titled "Crunching the numbers again to find the most profitable unproven sires at the yearling sales in 2024". The article highlights the strong results and profitability figures that both ARMOR & THUNDER MOON have achieved respectively at the yearlings and foals sales this past season. See the excerpt below.
« Armor achieved a stonking profitability index figure of 4.2 with 16 lots conceived at Haras de Bouquetot at a fee of €5,000 selling for a median of €21,000. »

« On to the first-crop foal sires last year. This group contains a horse who achieved outstanding returns with little or no fanfare, in Thunder Moon.
The Haras de Bouquetot-based son of Zoffany was represented by five lots conceived at a fee of €6,000 at auction last year, all at Arqana in December, and they made sums of €68,000, €48,000, €45,000, €42,000 and €15,000.
The median price of €45,000 divided by €6,000 makes a staggeringly good profitability index of 7.5, albeit from a small sample size. For context, the best figure produced by one of the first-crop foal sires in 2023 was 2.77, belonging to Nando Parrado.
With Armor and Thunder Moon both recording excellent profitability indexes, it might just be that Haras de Bouquetot is underpricing its new sires – and not necessarily unwittingly, as it is a bright, bold and relatively young operation eager to get breeders on side.
Something to bear in mind, perhaps, as the same farm launches Al Hakeem, a Group 2-winning son of Siyouni and a smart Galileo mare from a fine family, at a fee of just €5,000 this year. »
