ZAKHAROVA secured her first black type when finishing third in Saturday’s Listed Prix Caravelle – Haras des Granges over 2,100 metres at Toulouse, on very soft ground. The progressive three-year-old filly becomes the latest stakes performer for her sire ZELZAL, who stands at Haras de Bouquetot.
Trained and owned by François Belmont, ZAKHAROVA was stepping back up in trip following a recent run over 1,600 metres at Chantilly. Ridden by César Belmont, she travelled prominently from her inside draw and kept on gamely in the straight to take third behind Rabbit’s Foot and Ginalyah, in a field of eight runners.
Bred by Scuderia Micolo, ZAKHAROVA is out of the Lujain mare Diva Cattiva and was recording her third placing from five career starts. A winner at Clairefontaine as a juvenile, she is now one of two black type performers by ZELZAL in 2025 to date.
Congratulations to her breeder and to all connections!
